At a windy but dry Cloonacauneen on Saturday evening last, the home side were totally outclassed by a rampant Monivea 15.
Playing with a strong breeze in the first half, the visitors scored after 8 minutes with a fine try by centre Kevin Higgins which was converted by Ger O'Connor. The pressure on the home side was unrelenting and further tries by Ronan Coughlan, Colm Neary, Seamus Fahy, Ger Fitzmaurice and Ger Divilly of which O'Connor converted 4, which left the home side down 38-0 at half time.
Corinthians to give them credit started the second half brightly and got their reward for their efforts after 15 minutes with a fine individual try which was converted to leave it at 38-7. But Monivea upped a gear again and owned the ball for the last twenty in which they added further tries from Higgins, John Culkin and debutant Adam O' Brien. One conversion from Outhalf Ger O'Connor left the score at the final whistle 57-7.
While Monivea will be happy with another bonus point victory, it has to be said they played a very unorganized and young Corinthians side who will take points off teams as the league progresses. Best for Monivea were Kevin Higgins, Ger O'Connor, Cathal Divilly and man of the match Ronan Coughlan.
